The Best Foods Before Yoga

Its best not to eat a proper meal for up to two hours before yoga practice. That’s all well and good in theory, but what if you’ve not managed a proper meal, and class time is quickly approaching. These healthy snacks are the best ones to go for, and can be eaten the hour before yoga class. 



Apples hydrate, give a natural sugar lift, and freshen you up, They are also a great source of vitamin C, contain fibre, which can help hold you over until after class. 


Potassium rich bananas make a great pre-yoga snack. Potassium works with sodium to help keep your body properly hydrated, and like the apple, they have a low glycemic index, which means your energy won’t spike and then flag later. 
The low acidity level of the pear makes them a smart choice, especially if you have concerns with acid reflux. Pears are high in fibre, which means they are more likely to keep you satisfied until you get home from class.
Nuts and Seeds

Grab a handful of nuts or seeds before class to help boost your energy to stave off hunger. Almonds for example, contain protein, vitamin E, potassium, and magnesium, which means you’ll have plenty of stamina throughout your class. If you mix and match your nuts and seeds you chose before yoga class, your body will love the variety and you will find what works best for you. 


Another potassium packed snack, with a single ounce serving providing almost 300mg of potassium. Contrary to popular belief, a small serving won’t have you running to the loo, so they are safe to eat before class.
